Fort Collins, Triple Crown Partner for Fourth of July Sparkler Spectacular
The Sparkler Tournament that’s going on this week in Northern Colorado is one of the biggest you’ll see in the summer or anywhere. With more than 1,000 teams participating in softball around Denver, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, the event brings in close to 500 officials and more than 800 college coaches to the region in addition to the participating families.
One thing that sets apart this tournament, which started in 2002, is its schedule of insisting that families have free time to really set it apart as a vacation throughout the region for Fort Collins-based Triple Crown Sports.
“We schedule the event so that they have a day off in there so that they can go rafting, and they can enjoy a Rockies game or go to the mountains,” said TCS Chief Sales Officer Stephanie Klaviter. “We also try to schedule the event so that we’re not playing a lot of games at night, so that the teams can go to a nice dinner, or they can do a team bonding thing, and the parents can enjoy having their nights off and they don’t sit at the ballpark.”
The tournament, which started Sunday and goes through July 5, has brought in nearly 50,000 people to the market. There are teams from upward of 45 states plus Canada.
