Conversations with smart people: Mark Neville

Conversations with smart people: Mark Neville

Welcome to the latest in a series of conversations with smart people who I think provide great perspective on issues in sports.

After graduating UC San Diego in 1991, Mark Neville began an internship with the Holiday Bowl and has committed his career to the nonprofit organization, now serving as its chief executive officer. Sports San Diego, which evolved from the local nonprofit, has grown to organize multiple events throughout the year and will be involved in bringing the NASCAR Cup Series to San Diego this weekend with the Anduril 250 Race at the Base.

We chatted about the race and how it came to be, how a previous motorsports event is used as a long-ago reference point for NASCAR, the Holiday Bowl’s legacy in San Diego and much more.
